Apply to be our Accompanist
Saturday 08 February 2020

Dorking Choral Society is recruiting an Accompanist to join them from 1 April 2020.

DCS is an established Choral Society with a history going back to the 1920s, and currently comprises around 85 members, under the direction of our MD and Conductor Timothy Ferguson. We sing a wide variety of music, both sacred and secular, from major choral works to madrigals and part-songs. We are a long-standing participant in the Leith Hill Musical Festival (‘LHMF’), and our Spring term (January to April) is geared around the Festival competition and performance in April. We generally undertake 3 other concerts through the year (November with orchestra, December with piano/organ and June with chamber orchestra), and regularly organise a short summer tour in early July.

We are based in Dorking, a small town in Surrey within easy reach of London. We rehearse weekly, on Wednesday evenings, in central Dorking, 19.30-21.30 and our 2020/21 season runs to 27th June 2020 and restarts 3rd September 2020.

We are looking for a professional accompanist to provide support for the choir and the conductor over approximately 38 weekly rehearsals though the year. There is also the possibility of playing in our concerts on invitation, for which a performance fee is payable.

Please send any applications (letter and short CV) by email to the DCS Chair, Ann-Christine Harland at dorkingharlands@netscape.net  The closing date for applications is Sunday 23rd February 2020 and three shortlisted candidates will be asked to accompany the choir at its rehearsals on either 4th, 11th or 18th March 2020. Availability to perform with the choir at the LHMF on Saturday 18th April 2020 is also highly desirable.

We look forward to receiving your application!
