The Choir also organises short choral tours and other special events which are increasingly
well supported and have become an integral part of our annual programme.

July 2008 - Ryedale Festival.
To quote from the Chairman's newsletter "Sat: Sang five concerts on one glorious day,
three different venues, culminating in magnificent open air performance in Rievaulx Abbey
with brass & period instruments. Sat evening: ‘Big Band’ concert, Charlston’d the night
away. Sun: Chorus from extract of Die Zauberflöte, in Hovingham Hall, childhood home of
the Dutchess of Kent – who was in the audience!”

July 2006 - Members of the choir attended a Choral Workshop led by John Rutter in St
Albans, Herts.

Summer 2005 - Instead of a Summer Tour, DCS organised and held a series of three full-day
Choral Workshops, led by three separate, highly accomplished conductors - Ron Corp, Bob
Chilcott and Piers Maxim.

July 2004 – Tour to Lancaster, 10-11 July 2004. Concert at Lancaster Priory - works
including Dvorak Mass in D and Mendelssohn Hear My Prayer.

July 2003 – Tour to Belgium, including concerts in Bruges (with Belgian choir Vagantes
Morborum), Brussels, and an open-air concert at the Menin Gate in Ypres.

June 2002 - DCS invited to perform in Ledbury, Herefordshire

Summer 2001 – tour of Normandy and Brittany, including open-air performances at Mont-St-
Michel and Bayeux Cathedral.

January 2000 - DCS took part in the 6th International Choral Festival in Paris, along with 40
other choirs from around Europe, singing at the top of the Grande Arche de la Défence, and
culminating in a gala concert at the UNESCO Palace.

Summer 1998 - members of the choir gave a concert at Dorking's twin town of Gouvieux,
Northern France, and welcomed the town's singers back to Dorking in October 1999.
